Alright, so I thought I had a bad tensioner pulley, it was making noises and when I oiled it it stopped.

So I ordered a new tensioner for the serpentine belt, and replaced the pulley there. The noise stopped, and everyone was happy. Fast forward 2 days, and now it's making noise again....

My Alternator has 60k miles on it, thinking it might be the decoupler there and I might as well replace the whole thing. My AC quit working about 2 months ago, and I've just toughed it out, but I have a new A/C compressor headed my way courtesy of a Lost Jeeps board member.

The Viscous Heater is original... might be there. Harmonic Balancer is original but that's attached to the crank so I really doubt that's causing a squeek....

The weird thing is that normally under idle the belt makes 0 noise, but when I rev it up or accelerate the noise shows up, that's why I'm leaning towards A/C Compressor and Alternator....

Might need a new belt as well, it's got 60k on it, and it's fairly cheap.

Thoughts?

1st, Remove the serpentine belt, start engine and see if noise goes away!
If it does, with engine off and belt removed, spin each devices pulley by hand and see if you feel any resistance or feel anything that feels like it may be dragging.
Remove the plastic cap from the center of the alternator pulley and see if you see any red dust, indicative of a frozen override pulley*
[*]You can also spin alternator pulley in normal direction of travel by hand and then grab and stop it abruptly; you should be able to feel and hear override clutch function correctly.
Replace serpentine belt with new belt and see if noise is gone!

If noise does NOT go away with serpentine belt removed, further diagnostics will be required...

just had this issue, couldn't tell where the squeak was coming from, rebuilt one of the idler pulleys with a new 203FF bearing($6) and reinstalled, noise came back a day later, rebuilt 2nd idler pulley and the pulley on the Tensioner pulley with new bearings. Noise was instantly back. With engine running dusted the backside of the belt with some baby powder and the noise went away. It was the belt. Got new belt reinstalled no more squeekin'.

I just went through this total exact thing if you pop on over to the post I posted . I have a 06 CRD with 160 000 kms
I replaced belt twice the tensoner the ac compressor . all my pullies spun freely I had no dust . than My alternator clutch started making a noise although still spun with no issue .
The noise kept getting worse and on ac the death squeel . I finally took out the alternator pully after discution and help from some of the guys on her and Inside the pully was ceased my alternator is also pooched even though I had no dimming of my lights no indication .
My guess would be the alternator pully

I'm pretty sure it's the viscous heater pulley and clutch, having issues finding one though...
