Was on a road trip with the Jeep today and had a P0201 injector code show up. We had it towed home and I've been doing some troubleshooting here in the yard with the FSM and things seem to be pointing to a bad injector (procedure really says to replace the ECU but I doubt that's really the issue). What's the probability of injector failure? Any way to tell if the injector is actually bad other than test equipment in a shop?

I would say that likelyhood is low.
How well is the engine running?
Is it running rough or stalling?

I suggest, one at a time remove the wiring connector, inspect the connector and firmly reconnect each one.

If it were a bad injector the engjne would be running poorly.

It idles very rough and has noticeable shake, especially when trying to limp around at idle. No stalling. I did have it scanned before our ride home and P0201 turned up.

Might actually be in the wiring somewhere. I plugged everything in and started it up and had it running OK until I jerked the harness around.

That code points to cylinder one. So I'd start there with the plug and wiring.

Took the day off from work today to dig into this some more. I've got the harness all unwrapped up to the plastic case that goes behind the fuel filter head. Then hooked up a multimeter to the ECU connector pins controlling injector #1. Resistance looks to be ok (also compared this to injector #2). The wires themselves look OK. I also bent and flexed the wires at the connector and moved about an inch towards the fuel filter area the whole time watching the multimeter for changes in resistance. Any challenges minimal.

I did start the engine off and on. Idle was OK. When I would flex the harness I couldn't reproduce the injector miss anymore. Occasionally it would hiccup on its own for a second or two but stop right away.

Through all this I'm being drawn back to the injector itself being the issue.

Might have been the pins in the connector at the injector.

Even if I tried to wiggle the connector I got nothing. Maybe it's a freak thing.

If the code comes back, Mite be worth swaping injectors, to see if code follows the #1 injector

So this injector miss has come back tonight. I can wiggle the connector on the #1 injector and it will miss intermittently. Is there a way I can buy a new connector and contacts that I can just crimp on? This seems line the simplest place to start.

ACdelco PT2183.
Kinda pricey for a stupid 2 wire connector. About $35.
But I had to buy one. Got it from my local chevy dealer.

Wow, Yea expensive. But at least it comes with pigtail wires so I don't need to mess around crimping new contacts.

I've been looking into these connectors recently since I discovered I have an intermittent connection at the connector for the fuel rail pressure control valve. The family of connectors is Bosch Kompakt 1.1a Series and the part number for the 2-pin one is 1928403874. Searching "Bosch 1928403874 pigtail" mainly gives European-based stores, but they generally seem to be much cheaper than the ACDelco version.

(if you start shopping around, note that not that some of the results in Google are just for the plastic connector housing itself without the terminals or wires)

This is one of the Best sites I have found for looking up Mopar Connection repair kits: > http://connectors.dcctools.com/home.htm
NOTE: It helps to get the Circuit Idenification Number (K11 & K611 - No. 1 Injector) off the wiring diagram in the Factory Service Manual in order to confirm you have the right connector kit!

This is the Mopar part no. 5143779AA for no. 1 Fuel Injector connector you need...
It can be purchased here from Mopar Online Parts (OEM Parts) for $22.85

Thanks WWDiesel. Does that kit include the connector with the terminals and seals? I did find a website this morning (chief enterprises.com) that has all the pieces needed, just not in kit form.

I have yet to call the local Chev dealer and ask about the part Flash7210 has used. Looks Oriely's has it, but according to the website they want $60 for it.

Updated the link; it does not really say, I believe it is the whole kit with everything, but you can call them and inquire...and price is much better than any others!!!
Amazon and Quirkparts also lists them, search for: 5143779AA :google:

If that doesn't solve your problems, send me a message - I have a box of loose injectors that all drove themselves to the site of their engine stopping. So they should all be good.

Thanks Geordi. I'll keep that in mind.

I did call the local Chev dealer yesterday afternoon. They had the ACDelco part in stock, but wanted $70. So I have the repair kit on order. Should be here Monday or Tuesday.

Let us know how the kit looks and if it has all the parts needed! Someone in the future may need to know and learn from your experience  ...
