Code came up and it lost power. I have no acceleration. I'm pretty sure it is the intercooler inlet hose. I took it off and pressure tested it and determined that it was leaking around the edge against the turbo. I cleaned up the edge and clamped it back tighter than it was before. I was hoping that it would work until the new one gets here. I unhooked the battery while doing all this. When I started it the check engine light was still on. Test drove it and still no power. Is it maybe in a limp mode? If so, how do I reset it?

It should reset itself and no more limp mode if you have corrected all boost leaks! Is it still bellowing lots of black smoke when you try and accelerate? If it is, then you still have a major boost leak somewhere or have a turbo or turbo vane control problem....

A little black smoke but nothing major.

Is there a thread on here that outlines how to diagnose this problem?

How does the computer detect a low boost? Is there a sensor that could be going out?

The MAP(Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor. It is possible that yours is clogged up with an oily sooty mess.

Correct, be sure and pull MAP sensor and clean it with some brake cleaner available at any parts store or Walmart.
You may even consider replacing the MAP sensor as they can be bought online for ~20 bucks. It is a GM Part No. 55206797... :google:
http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oe-gm/55206797

Is your EGR still in service? If so, you really need to block it off or totally remove it, this will stop all the sooty gook buildup in the intake manifold which contaminates the MAP sensor caused by the EGR...
Sasquatch also sells an elbow kit that allows the complete removal of the EGR, EGR cooler, and FCV so you can throw all that crap in the trash where it belongs!!!!

Ok I cleaned it. It was pretty nasty. I think I have gained a little power (far from normal). And the check engine light is still on. What should I do next?

I just changed the fuel filter to rule that out. My only symptom is lack of power. It doesn't smoke when I try to accelerate. I have all gears and the tranny locks up normally. It just lacks the power to accelerate. I'm gonna replace the MAP as soon as I get one. Any advice is appreciated

Where are you located? There may be some local help available if we knew where you are located. You may want to add your location to your signature for future help going forward....
If you are positive there are no boost leaks, hoses, intercooler, etc... then hopefully the MAP sensor is the problem.... :juggle:

Update:

I am located in Longmont CO. I was actually in the process of moving here when the problem happened.

anyway, here's an update. It did smoke, just not every time i tried to accelerate. so i ordered the map sensor and inlet hose. yesterday i headed up the mountain to a relatives and the turbo kicked in just after boulder and worked until today. i spent the night and installed the map this morning and drove home. the turbo worked till boulder. i stopped for lunch and had no boost on the way back to longmont. the hose won't be here till Monday. is there anything in the boost control i can check? I'm not really clear on how that works.
