Hi All

I am having a frustrating problem where my 40 amp window fuse under the hood keeps blowing. I have replaced it and tried troubleshooting by rolling down and up each window one at a time as well as multiple windows simultaneously, both with the engine off and with it running. It does not blow, but then maybe a day or 2 later I just happen to notice it has blown again on its own.

I have a factory repair manual and have looked at the schematic, but I am not sure what the potential/likely failure points are (maybe the regulators in the doors?) or where specifically the wiring is routed. The only thing I can add is that this problem began shortly after replacing my broken ignition switch pin assembly on the steering column. Im not sure if there is window wiring routed in that area I may have damaged but i don't recall doing any damage or pinching any wires in that area.

If anyone has any ideas on how to troubleshoot or where to go first i definitely appreciate it!

Thanks

Did you spill anything on the center console that may have gotten into the switches?
Maybe rain is drippjng into the door an getting the motor wet?
Each door has wiring that goes into the frame. Maybe wires there are getting pinched and shorting out?

The 2006 LHD CRD has a known problem where the wiring harness goes behind the Fuel Filter Head Mounting Bracket where it can be damaged and frayed through to chassis.

I am pretty sure that the wire from this fuse will enter the cabin via this route so it is possible that this wire is fraying to chassis there...pull this bracket off and have a good look at this harness in that area for damage. :?

Will check that out thanks.

No rain/car washes lately so not suspecting water at this point.
