MAJOR thanks to you all.

the CAC hose that we replaced had a 2.5 inch split in it. Husband and I were all set yesterday to replace the hoses together, sort of a family project nice on a Monday morning and we chickened out and brought the parts to our friendly neighborhood guy J. J did the job and the CEL is now off. SO the other mechanic, R who is convinced that the problem is the pressure boost sensor (because thats what the computer says) is out of the loop for now. I'll bring him the hoses next time I'm in the neighborhood and say hi. Still scouting for a reasonably local shop that can do the Timing belt and keep my baby in good running order. I've spoken to a couple really super nice folks found on this forum or TDI list and will keep my SoCal Lost compadres posted if I find anything in the "Southland" This forum and the whole wide internet is really magic.
