Using the search I have found most of what I need (thank you!), except I have 2 questions that hopefully someone who has done this can answer about swapping the torque converter without completely dropping the transmission. First question is How the Hell does the larger of the 3 wiring plugs come apart? It looks like some sort of a hinged latch or something? And is there going to be enough play in the shifter cables to slide the transmission back without having to disconnect them? Thanks guys. |

I think yes, just hinged. Sticky from age. And I don't think so, but the shifter linkage is easier than the transmission lines. |

Yep, got the connector. I thought for sure I broke it! lol Bummer about the cables,, the hardest part with this crap(connectors, lines, cables) is figuring out how the H they come apart!? Thank you! |

Np, yeah I dread pulling these transmissions, but I don't have a lift either. I took a harbor freight transmission jack, and bolted a thick sub floor deck on it to fit our transmissions. Works well after some practice |

Yeah,, no lift here either. Just a floor jack and stands to lower it. I have pulled a few in the past from Wranglers with a lot less trouble than this thing. I was hoping to be able to leave it attached to the cross member support and pull the cross member back with the tranny attached to it.. but nope, have to drop the tail section down to get to the top bellhousing bolts. I haven't even seen yet any kind of typical or traditional inspection plate to get to the converter bolts? Ug

I pulled my GTO transmission using an ATV jack and as few 2x4 pieces as spacers and it worked pretty well |

I am putting in a Hemi tc also. I am up in Canada or I would have taken you up on that offer for sure! And I was wondering about using a motorcycle/atv lift. Easy enough to put boards across for height.

I had sent a private message yesterday to the OP about the Torque Converter but I hadn't heard back yet. I'm having transmission issues and I'd like to replace the torque converter when I replace it. If it turns out I don't need it, I'll be happy to pass it on. |

Ok so how do you get to the upper dipstick bracket? and then what tool for the drivers side top bellhousing bolt?  Thanks! |

Yes,, very heavy on the suck! I got everything undone, now just the flywheel/torque converter bolts. Does anyone remember what size socket they are? Thanks Probably the worst bolt so far has been the upper starter bolt. ! haha |

14mm on the tc bolts. You want a socket that doesn't have much of a taper because they are thin. A 3/8 drive is better than half. I bought a 1/2 drive 10mm just for that starter bolt |

Just wanted to check in and say thanks for the help on this . I got it all back together a few nights ago and I was pretty happy that it engaged and moved and it was actually the torque converter that had crapped out! HaHa. It all went back together a hell of a lot easier than it came apart! But like everything, the first time is a nightmare trying to figure it all out, right. Thanks again!
