I have been having a problem with my Jeep taking longer to start on the cool mornings lately. After one cool evening the source of the problem became evident the next morning. I had to jump it off. After replacing the battery, I have not had any starting problems. The difference in starting rpm's is obvious now but wasn't before. The problem is masked here in the south since our cold weather is brief and not too extreme. Cold start problems? Check your battery.

right on! I'm on my third battery with 140K on the clock. Bought it new in '05 and the original gel Optima only lasted about 5 years in TN. I'm using regular lead-acid NAPA HD batteries now and get about the same life at a much reduced cost. Same CCA of course.

I had the exact same experience. Poor cold starting, but, upgraded to DieHard Platinum (RIP) and crank was DRAMATICALLY faster and the engine started way easier than I was used to.
