I'm getting a loud wump wump wump , scraping grinding noise while COASTING only, coming from (mostly ) drivers rear wheel and passenger rear wheel (about 80% drivers side) . goes away instantly when accelerating, or making a brake application. Diff is fine, ruling that out. Suspect that goddamn parking brake system........had issues before but never noise this loud. Sounds like the whole brake system and park brake system has grenade'ed.... thoughts? really not happy about another repair. So far into this for $10,000 in repairs. |

I suspected those darn rivits ...... wont have time tonight to tear the brakes down, but this weekend i will. Will most likely "remove' the parking brake system and use a Chock Block when parking. hope this is the issue.....99% sure it is... |

question, can I remove the parking brake crap and put the rotor and caliper back on and drive it for a few days? I cannot afford the parking brake components yet, its going to be around $500 cdn.

You don't need any of the parking brake system. Remove it all and put the rotor and caliper back on and your done. |

I'm really wondering if anyone actually saves any money by driving one of these CRD's vs a gasser. There are other cool things about it but if someone asked reasons to buy one of these, saving money would not be on my list. |

Besides, brakes and many other issues affect both diesels and gassers alike...what engine makes no difference!!! |

Well, it wasn't the parking brake system. Seems one of my co-workers decided to loosen the lug nuts because their pissed off at me. Almost died on the highway driving 100 KM/h on the, could see the wheel suddenly flopping around like a fish outta water . Pulled over safely and the wheel promptly fell off. I hand torque (compound torque 85 and then to 115) all my wheels and I always mark them with a jiffy marker after torque as well as mark it in my workbook as i go along, to ensure i dont miss a wheel. So its not my fault. all the other lugnuts were properly torqued. It was clear the mud, on the rim that fell off, around the bolt holes was disturbed, kinda like when one uses a tool on the nuts. Ongoing childish BS at work by several of the coworkers. so the damage is one broken stud (thats gonna be fun) and the rest the threads are damaged where the rim flopped about. Still usable but im having the tire guy pop em all out for new studs. Rim holes are slightly enlarged too. |

In some circles, that could be seen as attempted murder. You may want to have a conversation with the local cops about this. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |
