I don't know what it is but the logic on our tcm's just seems to be horrible(I don't mean gde's tune). It's so specific about speeds, Like it doesn't seem there is any leeway for upshifts or downshifts with regard to load or anything. It's just 59mph. You can be coasting down a hill at 58.9 mph and it won't shift to 5th because you're going .1 mph too slow . . . .
This where the Hemi TCM really shines.
It will hold a gear for as long as you are still in the throttle and upshift as soon as you lift off.
So it can shift into 4th+lock at about 40 mph and will hold that gear all the way out to 70mph as long as you keep your foot in it.
But if you lift your foot at 50mph it will shift into 5th+lock.
The downside of the heni TCM is that it downshifts way too easily.
I dont get any shudder with my hemi TCM because it will downshift before that happens.
And it still downshifts from 5th to 3rd. And in some cases down to 2nd prime.
No 5th to 4th.
