Been having an issue starting my jeep. Narrowing it down to a relay hanging under the dash above the throttle pedal. When you turn the ignition to crank it energizes so no current goes through. If I bypass it the jeep starts. Does anyone know what controls this relay? I could just pull a pin out of the connector so it doesn't energize, but want to fix it right. My battery has been getting weak and I'm getting a new one tomorrow. I don't think it's gonna last the winter.

Another day to get a battery. Going to get a group 34 AGM from Sam's club tomorrow. They were closed today.

Put the new battery in. I went with a 78DTAGM from Sam's club. Cost a little less with top and side terminals. Has same specs as the group 34 AGM they have. 775 CCA. The relay still prevents it from starting. I put an old relay in and bent a pin so it doesn't make contact. Starts right up that way. Maybe someone added the relay for a security system in the past.

I agree. Looks like it was from some sort of security system.
