Hello all ,
I have imported 2 intercoolers to replace my smashed one. I used mopar part number 52079700AB for the order. The first had the inlet pipe in the wrong place so I ordered another from a different supplier who I asked to confirm that it was the correct part for the vehicle. It arrived and the cool sibe outlet is 1 inch too small. Have I got the correct part number or how do I get the correct one?

I wonder why there is 2 part numbers for the same part. Do you think that maybe one is for the 2.5 engine and the other for the 2.8 and that is why the inlet and outlets are different. The parts diagram appear to show the identical item . There is no mention of different inlets and outlets yet they obviously exist.

If it helps the 2002-2004 2.5 and 2.8 CRD,s have a different intercooler to the 2005-2007 2.8 CRD. I found out in a similar way, tried fitting a 2003 intercooler to my 2005

You must be correct but the supplier from the UK. That I got the first one from assured me that there was only one and it fitted all and that we must have different engines and accessories over here.

Please don't mention shipping costs. I cant see how they can be justified or the variation between them with some sellers. 44$ for CD ,20$ for usb stick from the same city to the same address here.

I wouldn't trust a vehicle dismantler over here, they would say anything for a sale or not to reimburse you your money. your 2005-2006 CRD Liberty has the same engine and accessories as our 2005-2007 but with the obvious differences with LHD or RHD. Sales of the Liberty/Cherokee here dropped off considerably after 2005 so obtaining good second hand parts is much more difficult.
edit just noticed Aus so got to be the same vehicle.

phum I hope am not too late - only check in on occasion and never go to ausjeepoffroad.
Mate your paying too much for shipping - unless your stuck with a particular supplier it gets netter than that.

Respectfully I'd suggest (also being in Australia) you try TASCA spares.
Great site re parts fiches.
They also answer your emails.
In fact, they are great people to deal with who care and their shipping is reasonable and packing always good.
As are idparts and a few others (had to slip that plug in Chris).

For Mopar original hard parts TASCA are very fairly priced and will verify suitability of all parts you order against VIN / unless you advise at order time you are doing a special like the petrol loom for the rear in-tank fuel pump. They understand how remote we are.
As an example I recently purchased and shipped x Tasca, the supplementary loom and Carter in-tank pump plus some others odds and sods I needed from them as the all-up price was fair and reasonable.

Importantly, there is no surcharge for smaller orders as that so many dealerships in the USA ping you with when shipping internationally.

Cannot stress this fairness strongly enough - they are very good for a dealership.

on the subject of intercoolers.....

If appearance and location was not an issue...could i not simply mount a heavy duty aluminum (custom made) intercooler with twin electric fans on my ARB bumper and use longer CAC hoses?? (i'd probably use custom aluminum tubes and cummins commercial grade hump hose connectors and T bolts. )

It would sure free up the engine bay and allow for a custom radiator .....

If you are good at fabricating brackets and things, there are lots of ways to have a custom intercooler and radiator.

If it were me, I would remove the hood latch bracket and use hood pins to hold down the hood. That would free up a lot of space.
I would also remove the electric fan in front of the AC condensor.
The factory radiator and intercooler bolt together and support each other. Removing one or the other would require some custom brackets.

Lots of universal type radiators and intercoolers for sale on ebay. It would be up to you to figure which sizes work best and how to make it all fit.
