does anyone know the part number for the threaded inserts used to install skid plates on the KJ. i tryed to google it, search it, and even tryed to go though mopar diagrams but i cant find any info on them.

Thank you for posting this, JBDeVega.

I have been looking for a solutions to my skid plate woes. My original nuts failed and broke loose from the cross member.

I thought the original ones were welded on nuts from the other side of the cross member, but from what I can understand from the link you just posted it appears that they were rivnuts as well, only not nearly as robust.

Mine are loose too, thankfully the bolts weren't 100% tight and the back of the skid plate has slots rather than holes, so I was able to undo the front bolts and then just slip the skid plate out from under the rear bolts. I also assumed it had nuts welded into the crossmember. Now to figure out how to remove the rusty old bolts from the spinning nuts...

Jeff, I believe the part is aluminum made, the threaded side is towards the thin end. When you tie them, the threaded side is supposed to crush over the thick lip and make them stay in place. Being aluminum you can't really torque the bolts too tied or you'll round up the outer hex shape and spin it inside.
