Michigan cold snap. Took the original 7volt ceramics out and left the program as is. Replaced with bosch 5 volt and has never started easier.
I recommend it. -19 degrees and fired right up.

Yeah, sometimes I wonder what "started right up" means. Mine is 5v plugs on 7v programming it takes a little bit longer in my garage in the winter than it would in the summer, but my garage rarely gets below freezing. I'm sure it will start in the negatives once I get a new battery installed but probably won't be lightning quick.

Ours has been strating pretty good that way also. It's in the garage 1/2 the time. Then sits out all day while my wife is at work. Occasionally sits out.

Sometimes we have to hit it twice. Hit it, wait at least 5 seconds and then hit it again. I wait until all the dash lights quiet down and the buzzer goes off before I try and start

Outside. Usually keep it in garage, but I want to test it out before taking it to work.

this was outside and not plugged in. my ceramics were not starting it well at all. Now, that being said, here is a new issue. I will cycle the plugs 2-3 times leaving the cycle for 10 seconds because this is about how long it burns when its this cold. Fires right up after about 3 seconds of cranking. However, when i have driven and had it warm and shut it down for a few hours (even if not too cold), it takes a lot of cranking to get it to fire. Puzzled. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have the start of a failing crank position sensor

Or could be a air in fuel problem.

Without any actual temperature data, ambient and engine, theres no way to be certain if its a glow plug problem or not.
