I've pulled the injectors several times on my CRD's and NEVER had any problem getting them out with normal tools..... However, today was different. This one has been leaking for a while and the soot buildup has made it impossible to remove.

Looking online, I see new Miller 9075a for around $750. Used ones for $400.

I also came across a few BGS 8771 tools that look ALMOST the same as the Miller and are supposed to work on the 2.5 and 2.7 VM engines. Priced at around $200 with shipping.

T&E 4459 looks exactly like the BGS and are also in the $200 range. Again, they are for the 2.5 and 2.7.

Anyone tried one of these $200 ones? I think the 2.5 injector is the same as the 2.8 injector, so this tool should fit right?

I got it out! But I'm still interested in a puller if anyone has experience with the cheaper ones I listed above.

In the meantime, here is a picture of my homemade puller that I used to get the stuck injector out. I used a 13mm crowsfoot, a short length of all thread, a short piece of 1/4" steel and a few nuts. I had to put a couple bends in the rerod in order to clear the top of the injector:

First step: use a air gun to remove all dirt that you can away from the injector. Remove fuel line, return line and wire harness.
Second: fill hole with PB Blaster (or your favorite panther piss)
Third: use a 13mm crowsfoot, extension and breaker bar to gently rotate the injector back and forth
Fourth: install the homemade puller and start tightening the nut
Fifth: if it gets stuck, add more blaster and rotate with the crowsfoot/breaker bar
Sixth: install puller again and finish removing the injector
Seventh: if copper washer is still in the bore, use an o-ring pick to fish it out.
Clean, clean, clean!!! before installing new washer and o-ring.
