I am searching for the turbo to muffler down pipe.

Does anyone have the turbo to muffler down pipe possibly from a wrecked CRD.

My CRD is straight piped and loud, the muffler and cat was removed a long time ago and I'd like to bring it back to stock, make it quieter.

So I am searching for the original exhaust set up.

This exhaust pipe is the one that has the catalytic converter attached to it.

Darn it. I hauled one off that had the entire set up in good shape

Why not just add a good performance muffler, low noise and restriction and helps performance???

That's an option.... but i'd like to go back to stock.

My other CRD is stock and I like the way it sounds.

Removing/ gutting the cat makes very little difference to the sound of the exhaust but improves EGT's and performance.

X2. You would be amazed how much back pressure is caused by the cat. I was bored one winter and cut mine off and busted all the baffling out of it and welded it back on to keep the stock look

A good quality free flowing muffler can produce a very low db sound and as others have already stated, provide big gains in lower backpressure which negates to lower EGT's, faster turbo spool up time and better performance overall...
Not to mention buying a CAT gets expensive quick!!!

I have a hard time believing the cat is restrictive when the turbine exducer is only 43mm(1.7" for those non-communists here). Especially when you consider some of that 43mm is taken up by the blades and turbine shaft.

Unless the cat on the CRD is extremely abnormal, when in good condition it should create almost no restriction. Maybe over time, plugged with oil and soot that'd change, but as-delivered a modern honeycomb cat might - might - result in a 1-2% hp loss. On a 1000hp engine that's an issue, but on a 160hp one, not so much.

agree'd. Even the folks running 400hp subarus and 500hp ecoboosts and such say the cats only make a couple hp difference at most. Plus its obnoxious when you pull up to a light behind some bro in a subaru spewing out raw exhaust but some of them still think its cool.

There are "fake" cats that can be welded in place.

My exhaust is straight piped. Its loud and I like it.

I have a pair of older, but pretty highly tuned 4 cylinder turbos. One dyno'd at 270hp without cat and 264 with on a 2.5" system, the other at 310 without and 308 with on a full 3" system. The 2.5" system has a "new" California-compliant aftermarket cat, the 3" system is a pretty old Magnaflow "high flow" cat that would no longer meet California requirements (but is legal to still have, of course). A couple hp. I could net the same effect by skipping lunch one day. (Ok, I exaggerate) It's pretty unlikely I'll ever bother paying for test pipes and redundant dynos again... there's just no reason to waste that time & money.

Now, older pellet-type cats (vs. modern monolithic cats) are a whole different animal, I can absolutely see how those could rob horsepower. Monolithic cats are no more restrictive than a screen door.

To each his own, me, I have absolutely no use or need for any restriction in the exhaust system of a vehicle!!!
I have removed them all, even on my gasser Dodge; there are ways to fool the downstream O2 sensor if it has one...

um, the CRD DIESELS do not have catalytic converters...only the 3.7 GAS engines have cats. The CRD diesel has a turbo resonator after the bend in the downpipe, then a straight pipe then the muffler and tail pipe.

Originally I thought the turbo resonator was a Diesel Particulate Filter , but when i removed the entire exhaust assembly the turbo resonator is HOLLOW with a few chambers.

Incorrect.

From the factory, the exhaust setup is this:
Downpipe
Flex joint (before transmission crossmember)
Catalytic converter (after crossmember)
2 bolt tail pipe joint ( choke point)
Muffler
Tail pipe

Yes, catalytic converter.
It has a baffle and is filled with that honeycomb stuff.
If yours doesnt have it, someone removed it.

Incorrect. It is in fact a cat.

Anywho, power differences may be nil but for me it resulted in less "engine" braking and I could coast longer
