Hi everyone, I've got a 2005 jeep liberty crd with a failed crank sensor and don't wanna take it to a shop, was wondering if anyone knew where it's located and has a list of what I need to take off in order to get to it? |

The crank position sensor is located on the right-rear corner of the engine block, near where the engine meets the transmission. You'll probably want to remove the coolant reservoir and also disconnect the exhaust downpipe from the turbo and move it out of the way, though some people have been able to get at it from below. There are some pictures here which might help you get a better idea of its location: Engine pictures |

You'll have to remove the heat shield first(2 10mm bolts). Then I think it's a 4mm Allen that holds the actual sensor on. You'll also have to take the bracket the holds the wire on(8mm). All of this for me is easiest done from below |

See this thread with pictures for location! Access is best from the bottom and exhaust pipe removal is not necessary to change the CPS.. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=86074&p=906145#p906145 |
