Post subject:  TCM plug issues Does anybody have one to sell?

I bought a TCM, sent it to GDE to get the Eco tune installed.

After receiving the TCM back, I happened to be at a shop for something with the Jeep and asked if they would install the TCM - It was cold - I have no heat in the shop - so I thought it would be a quick and painless way to ge the TCM changed. I also do not like working on plastic stuff in the cold.

The shop used an air ratchet on the connector bolt and it is stripped.

So I just ran as is until I have a chance to look at it.

Then by chance I was at a transmission shop to get the rear drive shaft Ujoint replaced.

They ground the head off the bolt, but could not get the plug out. - acts like it's glued in there or something.

I am looking for a replacement plug and pin tool to swap out for when I attempt this again.

I would like a plug with as much wire attached as possible or just a plug that I can switch pins in.

I would also like a recommendation for the correct pin tool for the job.

I haven't contacted GDE yet - that's next on my list.

Is anybody doing a part out that would sell me a plug for my 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD 2.8L TCM?

Thanks

I called Keith at GDE and he said they did not have a spare plug to sell. So I need that. Surely there has to be a part out going on someplace. LOL

Going by memory since I don't have a CRD to look at. The TCM electrical plug is held in place by a bolt that goes into a captured plastic "nut" (see chat at viewtopic.php?f=5&t=85950&p=904509&hilit=tcm#p904509 including linked chat that has a picture). It's easy to "spin" that "nut" although how they managed to do in when trying to remove the bolt escapes me; my nasty suspicious mind suspects the ratchet was set to tighten when first applied.

In any case if the head of the bolt has been ground off you should be able to remove the plug. I don't recall any "fingers" holding the plug in place but I do recall it took some forceful but gentle prying to get it off as it's on there REALLY tight.

FYI 93+ ZJs and XJs use this plug too. Should be able to source one at a pick your own parts without too much trouble.

Plus the 99+ WJs use em, the hemi rams....etc. Should be pretty common to mopar.
