Could very well have gone down something like that.

As part of buying it as basically a non-running beast, he also loaded the thing on a flatbed and towed it ~125 miles so the remainder was within my AAA towing coverage. Perhaps there was a little bit of "guilt" coming out as "nice guy". I don't really know.

I've got the rewiring done, checked, and it still runs great LOL. I've been wondering, with as much moving about that's happened the last couple months, if I should try that brush-on electrical insulation on the wires out of the ECM connector 1. I've never used it though. Is it good stuff or perhaps not appropriate for auto application?

Now to get the rest of the stuffs back together.

I'm getting really exited about working on something somewhere other than in the engine compartment!

Also wondering if the hair I lost bending in there and scratching my head will grow back?

[edit] Watching the actual fuel pressure and fuel pressure commanded set point, as best I can tell by watching the changes while it's idling, it appears that it mostly stays within +/- 10 psi, with extremes occasionally going to +/- 12-15. VERY tight control. Can't wait for the new lower ball joints to get here and drive her. Actually on the road this time!

[edit 2] Seems there is a bit of "wearing in" that happens with this system. I spent about 3.5 hours today revving it a bit, shifting between R and D while idling, and just sitting there idling and checking the temp. After this it seems to have relaxed control a bit, but holding about +/- 80-100 psi from fuel pressure set point. Still great Switched to the FQS I put together from pieces of the 2 I took apart, and ran it about 1.5 hours on that. Works great, so now I have a spare  When running it warmed fairly quick to 170F but took foreverish to hit 176F (temp via scanner readout).

This afternoon Detroit Axle sent me a pair of Mevotech Lower Ball Joints. Looks like they caught Mevo in a pricing error on Amazon. (It came shipped direct from Amazon) Somebody from Mevo put in their hardware packs, supposed to be $11 and change, priced at $56 and change, and put the lower ball joints in at the $11 and change price. When I checked and first saw it they only had 3 left. By the time I logged in and went to purchase, they were out. Oh well, greed aside, I still have what I need! :goink:

How do you watch the commanded set point? DRB III?

What an interesting end to this story! You the man! So very glad you finally able to sort it all out and was able to share your saga with all of us! We all learn from others and yours was one of the more interesting ones I have ever read on this forum to date!!!

Who would have thought that someone had actually rewired some sensors incorrectly???? :dizzy:

Well in the 8+ months that I've been plowing through and fixing all the things I've been finding, I feel you folks have saved me a ton of time, not to mention money.

The least I should do is share the good and the bad and the stupid. If it saves time and money for others, it's worth it.
