I'm pretty sure this one is rated for diesel engines.
If you can find it

are we talking 0w40 Mobil 1 or are we talking ( 0w40, 5w40) Mobil 1 for turbo diesels, could get a little confusing.

discussion was about regulator 0W-40 Mobil 1, NOT the Turbo Diesel Mobil 1 version oils which are a API diesel rated oil...

I WAS actually talking about the esp 0W-40 ... Lol. Just kidding.

Still like your posts and appreciate your contribution even though I disagree with you every now and then.

To each his own; I simply would never recommend Mobil 1 0W-40 oil to be used in any diesel engine when there are so many better diesel rated oils available for the user....

The Oil saga continues!
My continued stance as to why NOT to use a non-diesel API rated oil (CJ-4) in any diesel engine!
I am not the only one who understands the issues!

Ford has rejected the new FA4 API diesel oil spec (Too low a viscosity) and will not allow the use of API CK4 oils in their diesel engines.
They recommend continued use of CJ4 oils, which meet their own OEM specification.

https://jobbersworldblog.com/2016/11/02 ... e-on-ck-4/

Starting on December 1, 2016 the American Petroleum Institute (API) will begin licensing
two new diesel motor categories CK-4 and FA-4. API CK-4 is being released to replace
CJ-4. FA-4 is a low viscosity diesel oil released for diesel engines designed for a lower
viscosity oil.
API FA-4
Due to its low viscosity FA-4 should not be used in any Ford diesel vehicles at this time.
API CK-4
Ford will not be recommending the use of CK-4 motor oils in any Ford diesel engines,
new or old. Testing Ford has done on some CK-4 formulations have shown inadequate
wear protection compared to CJ-4 formulations developed and licensed before 2016.

Amsoil is the only oil in my book. I am sold on Amsoil, I've been using it for years. If you don't like the price, become a dealer. As far as cost it is not much more expensive than regular oil with 15,000 mile change intervals on Amsoil. I change the filter every 3,000 mi with a full change at 15,000 mi. If you do an oil analysis you can extend oil changes further out.

X2. If you call Amsoil's Technical Services Line, (1-715-399-TECH (8324)), they can recommend the exact oil to use for the V.M. Motori R428 engine that is in your CRD. When you call them, be sure to have them double-check that the oil they are recommending meets FCA's, (Daimler/Chrysler at the time), MS10725 specification.

My only contention with what Jobob46 is writing above is that I would definitely NOT go the full 15,000 mile full change interval until your pollution control systems are cut out of the vehicle. My Liberty CRDs are bone stock except for the H.D.S. Model 001 thermostat prototypes I continue to run in them. I therefore change oil every 5000 kms and DOUBLE-FLUSH the engine oil as so much pollutants get pumped back into the engine.

well, I thought I'd try the Delvac ESP this oil change . Engine runs quieter than with Mobil TDT. Ran it pretty hard thru the mountains, extended driving times, steep grades, on road and off road.
