As far as I know, clamp-on meters can't read DC current.

Sure they can if they are designed for it. I own two that read AC and DC current with the clamp.

They sure do; I have A clamp on induction meter that will read AC/DC current, amps, etc...

Update:
New starter installed and... I got it to start.

video of it running
https://youtu.be/ImFebRIdO54

I started unplugging my injectors one by one and I was only able to get it to start when I had #3 injector unplugged. I did sound better but it sounds the same on video. So I feel like that's my problem. I looked online and just about doo doo my self when I saw the cost of a new injector. AND if I get a new one is there something I have to do with my ECM? :banghead:

.......Do you guys know of a way I might be able to clean it to get it working again?

don't buy injector yet, diagnose it first , you have bigger problem internally with that much noise ?

Before buying a new injector, I would remove all 4, label them, and send them to a diesel injection shop for testing.

If any of the injectors show signs of damage at the tips, thats an indication of internal engine damage.

Kinda sounds like you have an IRS auditor in the crankcase trying to get out.

Stop running it and start tearing into it.

That knock doesn't sound good.

That doesn't sound good and I don't think it's caused by a bad injector. If the injector is bad, I think that's a symptom of the problem rather than the root cause. First thing I'd do is pull that #3 injector and see if there's physical damage to the tip.

I've heard that noise before...

https://www.dropbox.com/s/xrylizoghpppebq/CRD-bottom-end.mov?dl=0

https://www.dropbox.com/s/uwtkoqs438jpqia/CRD-bottom-end-2.mp4?dl=0

That is different from this one, which was bad rockers:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/a36xivsaoquco7x/CRD-bad-rockers.mp4?dl=0

How did this start? What were the conditions? Both of those first two videos ended up being the bottom end, a rod bearing had gone missing and what you are hearing is the rod slapping against the crankshaft journal. It isn't good for either part.

You can tell it most likely is not rockers b/c the sound is too consistent, the sound of bad rockers tends to be uneven. Sadly, the engine has to come out. This isn't impossible, but it is a big job. Sorry for the bad news.

I'm not saying that it is your problem, but your video sounds very similar to what mine sounded like when i had a connecting rod bearing go. Hopefully you can figure out what the issue is.

Sorry it took so long but I finally had to to start taking it apart..... and I did find some broken stuff.

I pulled out the parts of the lifters but I didn't find all the peaces. I probed around with a magnet but didn't find any thing. So I drained out the oil and did some more probing and found some more but not all of it.

So what are your guys thoughts and feeling about what I found.

EGR destroyed your innards.

Failed rockers, failed lifters and worn cams.

Replace them all.

Remove the existing TTY bolts one by one and install new ARP studs one by one, have the injectors cleaned and do the timing belt.

Should be all you need
