fuel head wont keep prime

Ive had some issues with long cranking time when sitting for a while. Not when cold and not when hot. Thought it might be battery. Replaced that and still didnt fix issue. Replaced crank sensor. still didnt fix problem. Found that air bleeds out the fuel head after sitting a while and when primed, starts right up. Can anyone give me the fix or help me diagnose what to do. thanks

If you don't have the 2nd gen fuel head then start there. But another point where air gets in is the push fittings back at the tank. A lot of us have got with an inline pump or even better and intank pump

I fought an air leak in the fuel system for a couple months. Replaced the filter/head and the all flexible lines from the gas tank to the CP3. Still leaked...

Ended up installing a Kennedy in-line bnooster pump. Been running for 3 months now with no leaks.

If you want to fix it for good and never worry about air in fuel again, install a lift pump inside the fuel tank! :wink:

Many on this forum have done that with great results and no negatives.
Your CRD is wired from the factory for a lift pump including a relay and wiring to under a rear seat connector.
Only need to add two wires from this connector to the top of the fuel tank and install the lift pump and forget air in fuel forever! Some also report a smoother idle as well with the addition of a lift pump! :BANANA:

The OEM fuel line fittings are designed to work under pressure, not vacuum, so if you install an in-tank fuel pump they will work just fine....
