Check the wire colors to determine which plug is which. This is what's listed in the service manual:

Fuel Injector 4
1 - White/Brown
2 - Brown/Tan

Fuel Pressure Solenoid
1 - Brown
2 - Brown/Orange

PLUGE A: Brown/Orange and Blue/Black - this is the one with the pulsing output
PLUG B: Brown/Tan and White/Brownish

Plug B sounds like the injector then.
What is plug A then?

With the PLUGE A: Brown/Orange and Blue/Black disconnected I get an error code for fuel pressure regulator P2294

That must mean that it is intended for the fuel pressure regulator/solenoid. Now why is that output rhythmically pulsating? It is not the solenoid because it did the same thing (pinging the injector) when I plugged it into the injector spot.

I don't know why it does it, but when mine did that, I was messing with the connector for the FQS on the back of the CP3. I can't remember which way made it stop, but when I turned off the ignition, and back on again, it didn't do it anymore. It was the FPS back of the rail that was clicking, about 3 hertz.

ITS ALIVE :frankie:

GordnadoCRD you were right. I disconnected stuff put the plugs were joe_'s response indicated. The 3hz weird cycle stopped (must be a common response of the ECM when stuff isn't right). I cranked...….and cranked.... and Cranked...……..

and then the darn thing started!

I started it a couple of times and noticed I had to crank a while before it turned over. I had a friend turn the key while I held the glow plug relay. It never energized so that explains why it took a long crank before it started. No glow plugs.

I will need to sort out the plugs later. Some stuff is not connected and that might explain it.

I can now totally reassemble it. Yay! Time to celebrate :5SHOTS:

Yeah our CP3 is set so low, it really gives the Starter and Battery a serious workout to fill the rail, but once it runs, it cleans the air bubbles out fairly quickly.

That's GREAT news!!!! Happy for you. :pepper:
I believe you stated earlier that you did not have the ambient air temperature sensor connected? That may be why the glow plugs did not activate? :juggle:

I am replacing the rusty bends of the transmission cooler lines with rubber hose and painting any rust while I have all that stuff removed from the front. I am also putting JB Weld on the intercooler trouble areas and improving the frequent ground trouble spot while it is accessible. I noticed my one intercooler side did have a crack. I will slowly button her up over the next several days and take care of as many potential issues / wear areas as I can. New serpentine idlers and so one...…..

Anyone have any recommendations while I have it apart?

Convert your fan shroud into a two piece fan shroud for easy future removal of just the top half!
see this thread:> viewtopic.php?p=916154#p916154

another suggestion,
This stuff works wonders on rust. Used it on some rusted metal cabinets I refinished and painted.
Was amazed how well it worked and turned all the rust black and neutralized it after I sanded or wire brushed the rust spots.
Good stuff, bought it at a Builders Supply store in the paint dept.

Thanks for the recommendation. I have already wire brushed and used a needler on the ruff spots. I have rust converter of another brand to use. I will paint it all up and then, once the paint is nice and cured. Will coat everything in rust preventing oil/wax,

I took the mechanical fan off and will be swapping it for electric. I am just going to leave it all out for now and see how it goes. I will install the fan and controller later.

I just stopped by Advance Auto Parts and picked up two used and tested OPTIMA YELLOW TOPS for 65 a piece. One is a big one and the other is small. I can mount them in any orientation so I should be able to make them work. I am thrilled about this.

I put the stock elbow back on and will be attaching the Duramax grid air heater there. I tapped the egr hole with a 3/4 NPT tap and have bushings to attach a boost gauge.

I have a provent for overkill to keep all oil out of the intake system.

I will update how the install of this stuff goes.

Consider spray on or paint on bedliner, good and super hard durable stuff if applied right to good clean surfaces. Much better than the old spray undercoatings.... :D

Just a heads up on the glow plug thing, it's not a conventional electromechanical relay so you won't be able to feel it click on and off. It's a solid state electronic module that pulses the plugs on and off quickly (PWM) to adjust the heat output so it's a little more difficult to tell whether or not it's working.

Waxoyl is incredible stuff.
Here on the pacific coast with daily salt-bearing fog and constant salt-bearing offshore winds, it's one of very few things that actually work when applied to clean or good converted metal.

I am about the only person around here that seems to have heard of Waxoyl. It does look like good stuff and I would love to get my Jeep coated. I used to work at a Zeibart which specializes in rust proofing cars. I don't think anyone around here sprays Waxoyl though.

I saw on Amazon.com a similar product, and the sold the brand in DIY form as well. I don't know how well it works though.

Over the last 3 decades +, I have owned 11 Volkswagens, 4 Audis, and 2 Mercedes.
None ever had a rust problem, and all had a Waxoyl type product in place. I do not know if they were factory treated, dealer treated, or PO treated, as I never bought any new.

I've owned 2 Toyotas, both bought new, and they had some other thing that looked like it was applied with a paint brush, was pretty hard, and was painted over, so it had to be from the factory.

6 gm cars, 5 had rust holes in various places and sizes. The other was a garage queen that I wish I had kept, but was offered 6x what I paid, and I needed the money for school. None had any type of protection that I ever saw.

So good news and less than good news. The good news is I have successfully repaired the Jeep and drove it around for a bit. The bad news is that an injector steel line began to leak (no issue, just re-torqued and the leak stopped) and ran over the injectors. That showed that the injectors have blow by.

I have fresh copper sealing washers and new o rings. I will change them out again. I would like to clean the sealing surface on the cylinder head. Any good tips on that? I feel I need to find the right wire brush. Any good tips on re-sealing in general.

I believe the proper torque is 24 ft# correct?

This seems to be the perfect tool:
https://www.amazon.com/Injector-Seat-Cl ... B01F78V7II

I think I will weld a dremel brush to a steel rod and give that a try.
