I finally had a window regulator fail. Front right. So I tore it apart and found the problem. Piece of plastic broke off that holds the cable. Watched a You-tube on how to fix. Seemed easy. Ordered a new piece like this:

Amazon delivered in 2 days. I removed the old part. I then tried to screw the new part onto the cable and the plastic broke before it made it half way. Amazon was nice enough to refund my $8.99.

I then decided to order a complete assembly for $34 from ebay. It arrived today, but it has a completely different attachment:

I then did some more reading and found that the 2006 could have different regulators! Arghhhhh! I have a 2005 and several early 2006 models, so I will keep this one.

But now back to my problem. Did I get a bad replacement? The hole seemed too small for the cable to thread into and I couldn't see any threads. When I tried to screw it on, it expanded the plastic until it broke. Even if it didn't break, it would not have fit into the metal slide after it expanded.

Anyone recommend a good brand or merchant? The one I ordered came from a seller/company called "RegulatorFix". Or is there a better fix out there?

Look around on this site; they seem to have some pretty thorough descriptions on the differences between the 2002-early2006 and late2006-2007 window regulator differences

I got mine from autoandart.com They're a similar design to the Steigers for a much more realistic price.

Purchased both of mine from Autozone! They had them in stock and come with lifetime warranty!
One of the rear door units failed again and they gave me a new one with no problems.
Not a bad job to change one, can do it in about 30 minutes!

Big hint! Get yourself one of those cheap vacuum type dent pullers, use on window to hold it up while R&R regulator assembly...a big help!

We did the Steiger kits on all 4 windows on my 05 and my son's 06 (had same style as my 05) years ago after a couple of his windows fell. No problems since then.

I used some GPS suction mounts and held the window up that way. I used a couple to have some backup and it worked fine. Infact I drove around for a few days like that until my parts came in. I have plenty of those laying around and it was a cheap temp hold.
