I thought the NV242 could bolt up to the manual. Isnt that what the euro guys have?

No manual trans got a 242 t-case in any Chrysler product, driveablity issues.

I have been running 242 with my 6 speed for more than 2 years now with zero problems. There is no need to de tune the motor I run a equivalent to a hot tune and tow 2 ton with this transmission. I mentioned it before and I wish the rest of this truck was as reliable to the Merc tranny.

Sorry to dig up an old thread.... I think its relevant...

What year parts did you use to convert?

My nv242 and shifter were sourced from an '03 auto. Running into differences in the mounting bracket on the trans, and different length of pull on the cable. The rest looks like its going to bolt up though. The '03 cable won't fit in the '05 bracket without modification... no going back once I do that.

Just logged on for the first time in a couple years, I guess you have solved your issues but if it still helps I used the lever and cable for the selector from a 2003 auto, also had to swap front and rear drive shafts, rear had the combination of auto and manual drive shaft. Mod was carried out about 4 years ago so don't remember the full facts. More than 30,000 miles on this set up with no issues.
