I have a long list of codes at home that I pulled on Sunday with the key trick. Tried again last night but it didn't work.

There are a few used ECU's on eBay for an 05 Liberty. The part number matches except for the 2 letters at the end. Does this matter?

My part number is 56044562CF. Bosch part number 0281011476.

You need to get a good code scanner.
The key trick is unreliable.

Fore example.
You list a p0410. That code is not on the list for a CRD and makes no sense.
However, a p0401 EGR code makes perfect sense.

That very well may be it. Might have gotten a something mixed up. I know there is a code for insufficient EGR flow. Don't remember the number though.

I've been checking out Blue Driver. I want to get something that will do more than the check engine light.

I use a ELM327 bluetooth adapter + torquePro app on my android tablet.
Scans for engine codes and provides live sensor readings.

Maybe a dumb question, but has anyone ever rented a DRB III?

Just wondering if there is a way to avoid having the jeep hauled to a dealer 45 minutes from my house.

The wife didn't want anything to do with a used ECU so I ate the crap sandwich and ordered a new one (well actually a reman) from a place out of Florida called Module Experts. Dealt with a guy there named Adam who was most helpful. This does have a lifetime warranty and was far more cost effective than ordering through a dealership.

We're now back on the road after getting a new ECU and a trip to the dealer for programming.
