Post subject:  How long is to long to have fuel filter head removed?

To make a long story short I purchased a crd with 120000 miles on the clock. Was replacing map sensor and nipple broke and fell down into the intake. Pulled the fuel filter head to gain access to remove the intake elbow and noticed fuel in the heater plug connection. Ordered a new fuel filter head but have had the system open now for 24 hours. Plugged lines with tape to prevent anything from contaminating the fuel. Is it ok to leave it like this until I finish removing the elbow and fish out the nipple? Only mods are GDE ecotune. Thank in advance everyone.

Thanks for the response. Now comes the fun part of scoping the intake and attempting to suck out the nipple. I was worried of dry starting the pump. But from my understanding. Only crnk for 10 sec intervals after priming the hell out of it.
