Hi All.

I'm sure this is covered someplace in the forum, but the search feature is timing out currently.

I need to replace the rubber transmission oil cooler line because the factory crimped end is failing on the cooler side.

Does anyone know the diameter of this tubing? I know I need hose for Transmission Oil specifically, I just need to know the size.

Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: 2005 Jeep Liberty CRD if that makes a difference.

Edit: Nevermind. The size is 3/8". Hope this helps someone else.

3/8 will work just fine, just be sure and use good quality transmission temperature oil rated hose and some very good stainless steel band clamps.
Last thing you want is a line blowing off and dumping all the ATF out of a transmission going down the road! :roll:

I personally do not like screw clamps on any oil lines especially ones exposed to higher temperatures like transmission and power steering hoses as they can tend to work loose with age and can also damage the rubber hose when compressed and / or overtightened. Seen this many, many times over the years! :roll:

Instead, I prefer the OETIKER or Shark crimp type band clamps used on PEX and a few other applications. They are available at home builder supply stores, Gringer, plumbing supply stores, and Hardware stores. They work great on rubber hose, never loosen up, come in lots of different sizes, and do not damage the rubber hose when compressed as they apply very even pressure all the way around the hose! Discovered them years ago when screw clamps just would not hold the higher pressure air line fittings adequately on the ends of air line hose.
Some factory installed clamps are very similar in fit and function!

There is not a thread that I am aware of on the Magnefine filter. A few of us on LOST have installed them for additional transmission filtration and protection!
They work, I just changed mine on my Jeep after about 2 years of service and I opened it up and was surprised at the amount very fine micron size metal particles it had captured. :shock: I'm sold!

A fellow LOST member told me about how good they were a few years back, so I installed them on all three of my trucks.

I put them on my transmission line, just make sure to install with flow in the correct direction.
Ford puts them on the diesel trucks anytime they have to service them. They even have a ford number but i am sure it is supplied to them by magna fine or they both get from same manufacturer they look exactly the same. There was one on my F350 when I bought it and the seller said ford put it on . I checked it out some in power stroke forum.
