well most of us agreed that these common rail injectors MUST GO TO EXPERTS [BOSH AUTHORIZED } fuel shop , these things suffer from problems like ball seat wear , due to bad fuel filtration , so see foam and fuel conditioner can't help it, it is too late . but on the bright side usually you can save some money for now , most likely you need only one or two injectors . so get them out and let us know what the experts are saying .

Sea Foam did help a little. I hope I only need one. I will be pulling & getting them to an injection shop this week.

yeah but to avoid any misdiagnoses , we need you to run the injectors on common rail bench test and to get print out of the full test report , we need it . they are open on monday .

Thats what I plan to do. I have a couple choices in shops to use. I'm going to call both tomorrow & figure out who to take them to.

I have a bucket full of injectors too that drove themselves to the accident sites (engine pulls) so if you wanted some of those let me know. I'm not at home at the moment but I'll be back there in a few days. I'd sell them for say $250 each

I finally pulled the injectors yesterday. They look like they were all leaking a little out the body. I am taking them to Diesel Injection Services in St Louis MO today. They only charge $75 to bench test all 4 & provide a full report.

good , lets see what they say after testing the injectors , that is a very important diagnosing step it'll give us ideas where to go and what direction to diagnose that noise further

They say the injectors are good. I will be picking them up & going through the data later this week with them. Since the MAF reading is so low I really think its rockers. If I pull the valve cover I'm also pulling the head & replacing all the valves, springs & put it all back together with studs. I will also install an oil pressure guage. If I do all this I'm keeping it a long time.

It seems like I have to replace mine every 100K. It's the solenoid valve for the vacuum for the turbo modulator. I bypass it by moving 1 vac hose. Symptoms
are no power and black soot when accelerating.

well i do agree with you to take it apart and inspect it everything and send the cylinder head to machine shop and do all this properly. but the question is is this fuel injection shop 100% sure , what equipment they are using, where is the print out test and pressure values etc ? visual test like atomization and spray pattern is not the only concern , some fuel shops do just that , make sure these guys are professionals and they have tools and knowledge to do it properly .

When I pick them up I will find out exactly what tests they ran on them.

Now that I have the air box & vac reservoir out of the way I can see the turbo a little better. Is that too much play? It doesn't seem to spin real freely but its been a while since I've spun a turbo by hand & that was on a much bigger non VGT.

well i wish I'm in your area and i can speak to that fuel injection shop and get to know them and ask them to run the injectors on that common rail tester one more time , all they have to do is to put the serial number of that injector in the machine and printer will do the rest so we can all see the results .

Its not rubbing & no metal glitter. I just remembered the last time I took it for a test drive at full throttle it would spool up to 20psi then drop to about 14psi. Is that normal?

The stock tune is set to peak at 2335 mbar(19.3 psi) @ 2200 rpm and drops to 2200mbar(17.5 psi) by redline. This is assuming some limiter is not kicking in. If you are still on the F37 engine tune then it will artificially limit torque during TC lockup which likely cuts boost below those peak values.

well at this point if your fuel guys say that there is noting wrong with the injectors ,i would put them back in their original location , and since you are planning to take it apart and do the rockers and exhaust valves (GOOD IDEA) it would be a good idea to remove turbo and exhaust manifold and cap oil supply line , just to make some smoke in your drive way and see which exhaust port is making alot of smoke .? i use old school methods , because it does work FOR ME>
