Hi from South Africa. On first start-up in the morning the engine (205,000km/127,000 miles) takes long to start and then, upon ignition there is a lot of diesel smoke. Could it be the glow plugs (original ceramics)? Already imported Etecno 7v's from Italy, just not the time to install. When engine is warm it starts like a dream everytime. No fault codes!!!! It is not that cold here (+-32 degrees F/0 degrees C) I installed Facet inline pump +- 3000 miles ago due to air in fuel issues. Currently the fuel filter is air free and the primer plunger stays firm, so that problem is sorted. If any of the sensors on the high fuel pressure side were faulty, would it not continue to hard start even when warm. Thank you for your input in advance, this is a great forum. |

Are you losing any coolant level in the coolant reservoir tank? |

None at all. The coolant level has been constant since replacing timing belt at 200,000km. Oil consumption: +- 600ml since last oil change 3000 Km/1864 Miles ago. I use fully synthetic 5W40. The smoke has a strong diesel smell. |
