I built my own custom shroud and electric fan assembly and powered it off my AC fan wiring. The AC fan is not only triggered by the AC, but also coolant temp and possibly trans temp. A custom DIY tune could get the fan to trigger based on the proper Coolant temp for your needs, we have the map identified in the tune.
There are three wires going to the AC fan, one is ground and the other two are for high and low speeds. The fan I bought was 2 speed and I was able to use both, but with the ffd you would only need to wire one or the other since it's a single speed fan. It's probably best to wire it to the low speed since that is triggered first. When low is engaged, only the low speed wire is live, but when high is engaged both are live, so using the low speed wire would run the fan in low or high speed mode.
