My Mechanical fan clutch is bad so I decided to order this fan from FF Dynamics. I also just noticed my AC fan is dead too... I have seen a few people here are running this fan, and am looking for any tips. The fan I bought comes with a controller and a toggle to kill the power to it. I see that the Summit controller is recommended in previous posts. Is this better than the one that comes with this Stage 4 kit? I would like the ability to turn the fan on when the AC is on, since my AC fan is currently dead. I noticed someone connected power from the AC fan to the FF Dynamics fan, so it automatically went on when the AC was on. Is this a better idea then getting a 3 position toggle? I skimmed through the instructions, is it obvious where I connect these wires to? I can fix about anything on my jeep, but electrical is my weak point... Any tips or recommendations are more than welcome. It will be about a week or more before I get time to start the install, so I can order whatever I might need yet. Thanks |

I built my own custom shroud and electric fan assembly and powered it off my AC fan wiring. The AC fan is not only triggered by the AC, but also coolant temp and possibly trans temp. A custom DIY tune could get the fan to trigger based on the proper Coolant temp for your needs, we have the map identified in the tune. There are three wires going to the AC fan, one is ground and the other two are for high and low speeds. The fan I bought was 2 speed and I was able to use both, but with the ffd you would only need to wire one or the other since it's a single speed fan. It's probably best to wire it to the low speed since that is triggered first. When low is engaged, only the low speed wire is live, but when high is engaged both are live, so using the low speed wire would run the fan in low or high speed mode. |
