Post subject:  Front Diff Pushed Over As Front Shaft Spins

I will inquire if anybody has dealt with a similar issue. I feel as those this is going to be above my "garage" skills and a certified tech will eventually be hired to do the repair. However it is nice to understand what could be the issue.

When I have the front driver side vehicle tire jacked off the ground and I spin the front drive 360 degrees, there is always a point that there is some resistance and the front diff gets pushed over a bit to allow the drive shaft to continue turning. The push is noticeable and I would think that this is an unusual movement.

I have also started noticing the the transmission pan is showing fluid, transmission case or transfer case fluid unknown, on the outside corner closes to the transfer case/drive shaft. My transfer case is also showing fluid on the bottom of the t-case where the front driveshaft is connected.

Both these events have coincided together with the movement of the diff and makes me think that maybe the front diff is messed, the t-case maybe is messed, or the front driveshaft maybe is out of alignment and is causing problems in both the t-case and diff. I don't really know. If someone that has more knowledge then me in the area of the drivetrain and can throw out some advice that would be cool.

Thanks.

Peace.

maybe axle shaft inner cv joint (LEFT SIDE) is worn out ?

I had replaced cv joint 6 months ago with a cheaper brand unit. I thought that maybe that cv joint was causing the issue so replaced with a superior cv joint. However issue still remains.

I suspect you may need new front diff mounts.
Or at least new bushings for the mounts.

New mounts may be the case as there is some pretty good movement. However I would like to know why there is that side pressure on the front diff at only one point while the driveshaft spins. If this is normal to have that side pressure the mounts should solve the problem.

Remove the front driveshaft to determine if the resistance you feel is in the front diff or transfer case. Also inspect the driveshaft joints for binding or excessive play.

I will try the next couple of days and see what the signs are.
