After 2000 miles I get between 27 and 28 on the overhead display on the highway, and around 21 in the city. The milage has been increasing since new. The milage seems to be best around 60 mph, but I'm usually running closer to 70.

@ 17,500 right now ... just got back today from my fourth consecutive round trip from Green Bay to Indy ... first run to Indy netted about 27 mpg ... last run down there I got 31.5 ... on the way back I got 30.5 .. so it's been progressing steadily ...

they intown mileage is not so good though ... also the warmup period seems to use more fuel as well.

Just picked our 2006 CRD up last thursday. Our mileage in town has only been 17-18 mpg. We only have 300 miles on it so far, does this sound inline? Thanks Len

It would depend on the quality of the fuel, how heavy the foot and the speed, particularly the rpm. I get 20 city 26 hwy and I have a heavy foot. It will take a bit to settle in, but you should be getting some improvement, I would think. Are you driving with the 4 wheel drive engaged? Not necessary unless you are in deep snow, off-road or in sand. Course, you can if you want. I got 21 mpg on my first 1/2 tank, in town, of which some was B5 from the factory.

I calculate the mpg with mileage and gallons. I'm not to trusting on the EVIC (which I don't even have on this vehicle). I also get about 20 city and 26 highway.

I think people have drastically different definitions of "city" or "in town". For example: My "city" driving is 100% stop-n-go dense urban driving with short trips, lots and lots of idling and stoplights. I get 18 or 19 city. Highway I regularly can break 30mpg driving at 60mph. Some people might not live in as big of a "city" and their "city" driving is more a mix of 40mph roads with a few stoplights. In this situation, with a light foot, you should be above 20 city mileage.... But it is really hard to compare unless you drive the same routes as people and watch how they drive. With all the power the CRD has it is fun to gun it at stoplights, which will eat up the mileage pretty fast.

I finally cracked 25mpg for the first time on the last tank (25.4) running B20 and @ 75% expressway cruising.

First tank I got 15, but I don't think the dealer had it completely full. Next fill up was 21.5, the 20.5, then at 1200 miles, with 340 miles on the trip odometer, I got 24mpg. That was with about 180 miles hwy, 30 miles pulling my boat to get gas, and the rest back and forth to work. So it is getting better. Dave

Thanks for the replies. I am driving in town where it is generally a few miles between lights, 40 mile or more per hour. I am just looking at the OVH console numbers tho.

Starting to get 400+ miles and refilling at 1/4 tank, things are starting to come around. 12600 miles.

24,000 miles and I get 19 mpg in stop and go traffic. Last week I drove to Calif and got 27-28 mpg on the road 75mph.

Post subject:	CRD Mileage
Just got an average of 25.7 (calculated) on a 650+ mile trip Seattle-Portland-Mt Adams-Seattle running B99. Freeway driving was at 72-75mph. Not much city driving and well over 100 miles in 4wd on forest service roads around Mt Adams. My usual around town is 16-19mpg. I'm hoping it's just a break in thing too as I just went over 2k miles on this trip. I've only seen one other CRD on the eastside and that was yesterday as I was waiting in line to fill up at the Grange in Issaquah. They drove in, saw the line, and took off; I was wanting to discuss mileage!

The milage displayed on the EVIC is going to have to be accurate enough for me. I put diesel in my Jeep from my tank sitting next to my barn. I have no idea how many gallons I'm putting in when I fuel up. The numbers I'm seeing seem to be inline with others peoples calculations.

The one problem with diesel cars, it always seems the second and third owners get the best mileage. ... mostly off the confuser ... the first 27mpg run calculated was 27.460317... the EVIC read 27.3 .... I don't do much calculating as the EVIC on mine has always been pretty close. and I am a first gen owner ... I tend to keep vehicles until they die of natural (or unnnatural ) causes ... so this wil be in the family well past 100K I would hope
