I was just getting ready for the timing belt change on my wife's CRD, when a nasty sounding problem started. So, the motor is partially coming apart anyway, I just may have to go farther than originally planned. Symptoms were started running rough and knocking at highway speed. CEL on. Pulled over, but being as we were 30 miles from home and in another country, I did not shut it off until some assessment was made. Idling rough, on 3 cylinders and knocking. Did not loose oil pressure though. Thinking broken rocker or worse dropped valve, however, there was not excessive blow by from the crankcase to indicate a holed piston. There was not any smoke or steam from the exhaust either, indicating no coolant leaks. The decision was made to limp it home and deal with the consequences. Drove home on 3 cylinders, with the condition not getting worse. Had no power naturally, but only smoked a bit black when trying to accelerate. Got home with no additional issues apparent. Scanner shows a real time "Cylinder Number One Misfire". No codes are stored. Start it back up, reluctantly, with the same results. Cylinder misfire can be caused by numerous issues, most not good. The injector wire harness all checks out good to the ECM and shows continuity through the injector. So that all most rules out an electrical issue. So, while this is down for timing belt and more, I would like to send the injectors out for a proper assessment and go from there. Any recommendations, experience with Bosch certified diesel service shops? I am located in SW Ontario, but very close to Detroit Michigan if anyone has any suggestions. I have read good things about Oregon Diesel, although they are on the other side of the continent. Thanks in advance. |

Rankom, thanks. The rockers are going to be replaced whether broken or not. |

NP. i think there is a lot of fuel injection shops in your area with lot to knowledge and experience , but some times you know they can be too busy and they do quick diagnoses , but i can say that these guys take tame and they will try to listen to you and work with you and make sure they give you tour through their shop and show you the equipment they have , and that is the old school method. , so my point is i do respect someone with that personality , |
