2005 sport 2.8
It's been a while since I've worked on my jeep. It's been parked at 110k miles due for timing belt. Time for rockers, timing belt, water pump, weeks 1+ 2, hoses etc.

I took a look at my turbo and it's got some play up front at the intake boot. Bearings? Is a little play normal?

I have a shot at a low mileage used turbo. Is that a viable option? it supposedly was pulled at 26k miles. It's been sitting up since 2009.

Let me know I've been looking at the sasquatch ..

As long as it's the same turbo, go for it! I would just make sure it is a genuine Garrett and doesn't have a lot of play, itself. If it was pulled from a vehicle that was removed from service for something unrelated, I see no problem as long as the price is right.

How much is the used turbo. Remember that the sasquatch is theoretically an upgrade with the billet wheel and what not. I dont know how much of a diff it makes seeing as boost is controlled by the ECU very precisely but that is the way I would go if I needed a turbo ASAP.

now that my engine is open to do TB and rockers, i can get the turbo and see the throat. It's got some play, but not terrible like you see on youtube.

was wondering what's normal for them and whether it's a good idea to preemptively replace it

For a rebuildable Genuine Garrett, considering how proud they are of their new stuff, that's a really good price even if it does have a little play.

But if yours spins true and the wheels don't contact housing, it's basically the same as what you already have..?

i read a lot about blown turbos on here so maybe a spare wouldn't be a bad idea. That guy listed it as new ..
