As of this latest oil change, I have almost exactly 1 quart of Mobile1 TDT left, as a top-off if needed.
That makes 3 oil changes of data (as of next change) on strictly M1 TDT. With full Blackstone data.

The next Oil change will be with Triax

Will see how that stacks up. Price is about the same. Maybe a tad lower.

Still seeing Delo 400 LE 5W40 in only 2.5 gallon containers at my local Wal Mart for $52.

Rotella T6 is $49.77 for 2.5 gallons.

I need to pick one :)

Will search for comparisons, including zinc levels.

Wow, someone resurrected an old thread!

MOBIL DELVAC ESP 0W40 synthetic engine oil, REDLINE for everything else.
X2 on the REDLINE, I have that stuff in my transmission, transfer case, & differentials. I used their MT-90 manual transmission fluid in my CJ, really cleaned up the shifting on that manual gearbox.

I have used Mobil 1 TDT 5W40 since I've owned the rig (50,000 miles). Have been sending in oil samples for last 35,000 miles with positive feedback until they found coolant in my oil, which is a different issue.

The local SAE chapter had a guest speaker who worked for one of the companies that makes the additives for the motor oil industry, really good presentation. Its amazing the stuff they put in the oil to make it "multi-viscosity", almost seems like the closer the two viscosity numbers are the better since not as much additive is needed to get the different properties. He also said the quality and performance of conventional oils is constantly improving and is currently very close to that of synthetic oil.

Would Chevron Delo 400XSP 5W40 be a good choice? $4.69 a quart.

Yes, it would be a good oil. It is a synthetic oil with an API Specification/Rating of CK-4

Hands down the best oil for our little tractors is liqui moly lm2332, it’s hi saps and hths which is just what we need... we sell it at work for most euros like this little Italian engine. We order it by the 55 gal barrel. Hands down one of the best oils around for this rig

Does not have a current API Diesel rating. Am I missing something?
API Rating for liqui moly lm2332: SN/CF,
SN is a Gasoline engine rating and CF is an "Obsolete" diesel rating according to API's web site.

Diesel oils used in these engines should have an API rating of CH-4 or higher. (CI-4, CJ-4, or CK-4)

whichever oil used that meets the specifications ( I use Rotella T6 5w40 or Mobil 1 turbodiesel 5w -40 ) I think its best to use 5w-40 rather than 0w-40.

Liquimoly doesn’t wast their time with api ratings, they go for acea ratings, and the lm2332 meets some of the highest ratings from Mercedes and BMW... if you look at the domestic oils most are not HTHS and being a DOHC roller rocker engine it needs HTHS oil to survive long term. Plus it’s high saps so it has lots of anti wear... read up on oil on bob is the oil guy and check out the voa on it. If you read up on oil you will realize what a joke the api ratings are compared to acea ratings, we are the only country that uses it

Now that I’m well beyond 200K miles, I’ve switched to Rotella T5 15w-40.
And I’ve noticed reduced oil consumption.

I agree, I like 15W-40 verses the thinner weight oils. I run 15W-40 Royal Purple in my Dodge Cummins.
My Jeep never uses any oil, but I like the added protection of the heavier weights especially in our part of the country where it gets so HOT.
Rotella T5 15w-40 is a blend, it is not a full synthetic oil.
Rotella T6 15w-40 is a full synthetic oil.
Currently Red Line and Royal Purple both have Full Synthetic 15W-40 Diesel engine oils, but they are not cheap.

As to the Liquimoly, sorry not familiar with European rating systems and no one in my area stocks it anyway. Don't believe they have a 15W-40 anyway.
Got to stick with the rating system I have used and understood for over 40 years. :D

Liquid Moly is out of Germany. Quite a popular oil, especially for VW diesels. The have an oil for all the VW specs. It is what I use in my 3.0L TDI's. IDParts carries it.
