Hi all... This is my first post. I recently bought a non-running 06 CRD (I'll post more details later). It was missing the radiator and intercooler.

I was able to source a new radiator for ~$160. The intercooler, however seems to be outrageously priced. The cheapest I can find a new one is here for $537.08

I have found a used one here for $110, but it's over 100 miles away and the vehicle it came off of had 180k miles.

My questions on the new ones are... Why the big price difference between the radiator and intercooler? Aren't they pretty much the same thing? Is there a cheaper alternative out there?

My questions on the used one are... At 180k miles, isn't there a good chance that it is time for it to be recored? Does anyone know how much that costs? A quick search on google seems to indicate that it is in the neighborhood of $400 or more so at that price I might as well buy the new one.

Any other suggestions are most welcome. thx.

I am honestly surprised you found a radiator that cheap because when I looked they were around $450-500.

I wouldnt think that the 180k intercooler would be in too bad of shape. They are behind the A/C condenser so mostly protected from road debris. If he can send you pictures to verify that the fins arnt bent then i wouldnt be too afraid. The one thing you may wanna do is clean it out with either soapy water or kerosene to remove any stuff from the PCV system that may have ended up in there.

You could also just buy an aftermarket intercooler and retrofit it while you have the Jeep apart. The stock unit isnt very good anyways and there is plenty of room for improvement.

Thanks mass-hole. I found the radiator on Amazon. There was no picture, but the part number looked right. It's supposed to arrive tomorrow so we'll see
