First time long time et all....

I've got a 2005 Liberty CRD that's got around 185k miles.

A while ago a noticed slight overheating upon hard acceleration. Upon further investigation, I concluded the head gasket was giving up the ghost. I tried to be gentle with it until I had the time and resources to do a proper repair, but after taking my dad to the airport, I have the little Via Motori a little too much throttle and a coolant hose gave up on me. -- Pressure build up. The engine overheated and completely lost compression on I-215 (Utah).

I started disassembly and after pulling the head I saw that all the cylinders had hard scratching from debris, along with pistons 1 and 2 being partially melted down from the heat. -- pics to come.

I had the head repaired and trued up along with repairing a slight crack between the exhaust and intake valves on cylinder 2.

I ordered a good used short block from a salvage yard and it just arrived a couple of days ago.

My main question is: would some around here be interested if I catalogued and filmed the rest of the process? Basically, pulling the old short block, assembling the donor short block with the rebuilt head, other components and also installing an EGR delete kit from Sasquatch and finally dropping it all back in? -- I apologize for the run on sentences...not an English major;)

Finally, let me know if anyone needs any hard to obtain pics of any engine components or other information, since it's all torn apart.

Thanks and wish me luck!

If you took photos along the way and hosted on a site other than photobucket (like flickr) that'd be awesome. Photobucket has basically screwed up 90% of web forum posts with their new money model. I have been trying to find reference images, and they can be hard to come by. Sorry for your luck, I'm doing my headgasket this weekend. I just bought it a month ago, previous owner didn't disclose any poor running, and it passed all the typical headgasket tests. :banghead:

Just use tapatalk on your cell phone. It host it for you. But yeah, photobucket sucks(see my avatar).

I liked when google still supported Picasa and you could host it from there. Now with Google drive there is no way to get a direct link to the image.

Was able to download all my pictures from Photobucket back to my computer and then upload all of them to "PostImage" and then went though replaced all my broken links in LOST for previous pictures!
So far everything is working just fine with no problems!
PostImage.org account is free; it is a very simple program, but it works and does what is needed to host pictures...

I would like to know how they fixed the head.
My head was cracked around the exhaust valve seats of cyl 2, 3, and 4.
I was told it was not repairable.

Do you have full coverage insurance? Do you have a deep canyon that you can accidentally shove it off into? I love my liberty but if the motor blows I will probably go a different route. I've been following this forum for several years and have come to the conclusion that these rigs need to be treated like the smoking hot stone fox that you dated (and if not sorry for your luck...) When she leaves you there is no sense in groveling and throwing money at her. Just move on. :2cents:
