LOST JEEPS :: View topic - OBD II code scanner?

Even with my relatively inexpensive android-torquepro-elm327 code scanner, I can clear all the codes (except SRS and ABS) and the check engine light will go out for at least one drive cycle. Then my perpetual p0102 code comes back with a CEL.
But the CEL will at least go out temporarily.

So maybe your Autel isn't actually scanning all the modules like it says it is.
Maybe try purposely setting some codes by disconnecting a ABS sensor or a transmission sensor to see if the device picks up these faults.

I also purchased an Autel 808 mainly due to comments from this board. I cannot get it to connect/talk to my 2005 crd at all. Is there a secret Im missing?

I recently bought an ELM 327 Bluetooth OBDII reader for only $17.99
But Apple devices don't recognize it. I have to use an Android device.

On my Liberty Sport (gasser) I can read/clear engine codes plus monitor realtime engine data.

The check engine light will only turn on for codes that directly relate to emissions. My personal record is something like 112 codes in a vehicle and no check engine light,and yes the MIL was working correctly since all 112 codes all dealt with the radio,heated seats,door modules,and the like that have nothing to do with emissions. There are what they call hard fault codes that not every scanner can make go away no matter what,even with the codes erased the light will still be on since those codes are stored in a different part of the PCM/ECU that alot of scanners can not access.

Thanks, Randy Is it fully updated? My bosses cheaper autel 908 reads my 2006 perfectly, my Launch x431 Pro scan tool does not read it properly

I registered it per the instructions but I have a Mac and am not sure if the software is compatible....... I am try to find out from AUTEL.

I just received my Autel ML629. It seems to work very well. Cleared a trans code that has been on my 06 CRD for five years. Also cleared all system codes in my X5, air bag, and a list of other codes I didn't know were on there.

I know it's been a while, but here's an update: I recently began using the Autel Maxidiag 808 in earnest due to the "no boost" problem I'm having and did finally get it to do most of the things I need including live data. It turns out that it was mostly user error and it will do what it says it will do. When it asks to do a complete scan or scan individual systems I'm having the most luck by choosing individual systems (like engine and powertrain) and going into the sub menus from there. The manual is pretty useless, but with a little patience it can be made to give good data and will generate and erase all codes. Good luck.
