I was messing with my 06 CRD a little today and made the Check Engine Light come on. I was just messing with some vacuum lines under the hood (boost gauge install) and drove it for a minute with one of the lines off. Then the CEL came on and I found the line I forgot and put it back on. But now I can't read out or clear the code. On all the other DC vehicles I know of you can read the codes out by cycling the key on-off 3 times. But this doesn't work on the CRD.

I know you're looking for something quicker, but if you've fixed the problem it will go off on its own in a few days.

Got it. It actually went off on my drive home. But I still wonder how to pull codes out of it.

Go to a autozone stone, they will read and clear the codes for free.
