Hey everyone,

I finished with head gasket, arp, rockers, water pump, timing belt, weeks 1+2, motor mounts job. I have the TB tensioned, and have tested the timing alignment several times and turned the engine by hand several times. All appears well.

I saw sir sam's video and i like the idea of a test start.

So i have it ready for a quick test start. Except i'm not sure what all needs to reconnected before the starter will engage.

Turn key on and dash lights up.
Turn to start and nothing happens. Not even a click.

The alternator is disconnected and the old wires for EGR and FCV are still disconnected. Obviously i'm missing something.

Can you think of anything?

It started working again after I reseated the solenoid wire, the starter relay and the fuse. I'm pretty sure it was a loose connection at the starter as was suggested.

Do the dash lights all go out when you turn the key to start?

The battery connections are clamped tight? The primary ground wire is attached tightly?

The starter solenoid is activated via a small yellow wire that exits the loom in the same location as the EGR solenoid wires. That may have been disconnected or jostled loose.

In the Power Distribution Box just forward of the battery, there should be a fuse and a relay for the starter / solenoid.

i'll track down that primary ground wire and check on the dash light behavior. I was able to attach a trigger switch to the starter solenoid and got my test start which sounds great. Still not sure what i missed in reassembly i'll check your suggestions. THANKS!

That little yellow wire got me couple months ago. Moving the wire loom around it came unplugged couldn't figure it out for a bit. I would check that first I would guess that where problem is.
