As to the unsteady tensioner, the engine had a slight misfire. Fuel tank was empty and fuel in the tank was old. I refilled the tank with fresh diesel and engine is smooth (in a tractor kind of way)

In future anyone need timing belt quick amazon has gates t336 for less than $83 and you can get next day delivery for extra if needed and some things they even deliver on sundays

In addition to TK84's suggestion (cool about sunday delivery i'll have to remember that), though I'm not a fan of many of the parts Autozone sells, Autozone sells a gates/duralast timing belt for the CRD, and they seem to stock it. The duralast belt has 336 stamped on it, and the other markings and everything else looks and feels identical to the gates belt. The website says Duralast/Dayco, which some have said Dayco is a good manufacturer. I don't know myself but searching the internet Dayco seems to have reputation for quality belts. It helps to have options.

I have used a lot of Dayco belts over the years and never had a problem with them.

As to your fuel, you probably should add a heavy dose of Diesel Kleen or a similar good fuel cleaner product to the tank to help clean things up.
After you run it a bit with the fuel cleaner you probably should change the fuel filter....
