36psi of boost?
How are you getting 36psi from the turbo and not setting a overboost code? Badly and Unadvised Gadgetry and Gimmickry really.
Got it due to the Diablo puck and a check valve with a tiny leak. The ECM thinks it's a lot lower than it really is, and the turbo is unable to respond quickly to any ECM signal that it is too high (which apparently didn't happen as no OB code). The gauge is mechanical and tested for accuracy against compressor air pressure gauges.
Yes, mine will OB code and go into limp mode a little over 26 psi under sustained load.
Your turbo must be screaming?
Probably a bit, but at this low RPM, the CFM is still in easy range. Don't think they are designed for those speeds?
Definitely not, nor this pressure. Check valve where???
I thought the MAP was measuring the actual boost pressure and sending the signal to the ECM?
I have the Diablo puck as well on top of a Stage IV Yeti tune. I keep the reastotat about 25% and all is well, crank it up to about 50% and boost pressures can get real serious real quick. Then the ECM will throw it into limp mode as the MAP sensor runs out of range and cannot read the higher boost levels...
I know the turbo is capable of making ~30 psig boost as I have seen it make it on my mechanical gauge. Just not sure how safe it is to continually spin the turbine up to those extreme speeds and boost levels....
I can make 40+ psig boost on my Dodge Cummins and it makes a hell of a difference cranked up, especially on EGT's....but that is another whole animal and the turbo is fully capable of handling it!
