Moog, two years ago, so far good, mostly street driving...

UPDATE ON THIS IF ANYONE STILL LOOKING/ TRYING TO FIND

IMO only go with the MOPAR
over 222,000 miles on the 04, with me driving every mile
MOPAR was out of tri-links for a while, so went cheaper , two different brands gone in 3 months time each.
Went back to MOPAR and lasted over a year until I went with the JBA bolt on

For what its worth, the installation of the bushings DOES matter. Each bushing has a set of flats stamped onto the ends of the inner guide rod. Those flats are supposed to be installed in-line with each other (parallel to each other) so that the bushings flex in the proper direction. If they are not pressed in properly, they will suffer a short life. There were a slew of aftermarket arms that were arriving with them installed improperly awhile back. The problem should have been fixed by now, but just something to keep an eye on if you're buying third party or installing your own bushings (not recommended).

Anyway, long story short, the bushings this time have the voids filled. From moog. Interesting to say the least. Because that's what fails every year so far, the bushings separate. Anyway, thought I'd mention it.

I've got a new clunk from the rear when I go over speed bumps. I took a peek at the underside and the bushings in the boomerang are torn almost all the way through. I'm not surprised since it is original and has almost 140k on it. A new MOPAR boomerang ( 52088901AD ) is about $400 ,so I've been reading the interwebs for recommendations on a non MOPAR replacement. Most of the aftermarket ones seem to fail early from what I've read. I'm curious who has replaced their Boomerang, with what part number and how long it has lasted you? I also see ID Parts offers a Mevotech brand ( CMS25156 ) . Has anyone used this and put some miles on it?

I am faced with the same dilemma, although I recently purchased a MOOG unit, but have not installed it yet. I noticed the Mevotech brand carried by ID parts after the fact unfortunately. I see that Mevotech (from their website) does carry an extensive list of suspension parts for the Liberty. I will be looking to try some of their components in the future. Also, I noticed that I drive by their offices and warehouse complex in the GTA area on my way to my current field assignment. Maybe I can arrange a wholesale account.

I bought the cheap Dorman 521-465 UCA (~$90) on e-bay and it's working fine. My logic: They are not hard to replace, my jeep sees light duty and has 150K+ on it.

The actual metal tri-link part is not the issue,any brand is fine but the bushings is what is the real issue and sadly only MOPAR bushings seem to last any length of time. If I remember right the MOPAR bushings are made in Canada and all the others are made in china. From working on all types of vehicles I have noticed a trend in parts that last and where they are made,of course OE is almost always best. Bushings = Canada Radiator = Mexico Bearings = USA or Japan Ball Joints or tie rod ends = USA or Japan Rotors = USA(hard to find) or Premium Rotors made in china(99% of rotors are made in china it seems,only the brands Premium line lasts)

I installed the Mevotech about a year ago and it is holding up well. My original upper bushings were totally blown out. Ensure your lowers have good bushings as well. My lowers gave out and were hard to troubleshoot as it was hard to detect cracks on the rubber bushings.

That would explain a lot of the bad reviews on the aftermarket ones. I'm leaning toward Moog as I'm going to replace the front BJ's with Moog problem solvers, but I might get the Mevotech as it is a little cheaper and if ID parts has it, the quality must be descent. Bought complete arm by MOOG: My advice, don't waste your time and money trying to press old bushings out and new ones in; I tried that and the frame metal is so thin and flimsy it tends to collapse when trying to press the new rubber bushings back in the frame. The single ball joint presses out and back in just fine, but it is not what normally wears out.... just purchase the whole thing new and be done with it! I know this is an older post, but I was putting in my 3rd Moog boomerang. (A shop put in a lifetime one so I've been replacing for free.) Anyway, long story short, the bushings this time have the voids filled. From moog. Interesting to say the least. Because that's what fails every year so far, the bushings separate. Anyway, thought I'd mention it.

The bushing in the mevotech replacement lasted 18 months. Maybe less. While chasing down a vibration issue last month I noticed it. I think this set tore prematurely due to my ome springs and 2 extra upper isolators. The boomerang bushings are flexed to the max just sitting in the driveway. So I ordered another mevotech unit and the jba Y-link extension. Now the boomerang sits level and the bushings are relaxed. Also my pinion angle is better due to the way the Y-link extension repositions the axle mount. I hope this setup lasts longer than 18 months. And I ditched the rear sway bar. Can't tell any difference.
