Anyone know the location of a turbo install guide including actuator setup?
Thanks

Did you rebuild your turbo?

The actuator stop screw is set from the factory and not meant to be adjusted.
From what I understand, to set it accurately requires a flow bench.
If you are working with a freshly rebuilt turbo and dont know what to set it at, it will probably require some trial and error until you get it good enough.
At the very least, you will need a boost gauge and several hard throttle test drives.
And a way to clear the inevitable overboost codes.

From what I understand, these adjustments are a delicate process and too much can result in turbo overspeed which can destroy the turbo.

No , i have a replacement turbo (garrett ebay) which is producing underboost codes. I want to verify proper installation.
It also sounds quite different.

Check the vacuum to the actuator.
Should be high vacuum at idle.
Look down on the turbo to where the actuator arm is.
When you pull off the vacuum line, watch the arm drop.
Reconnect the vacuum line and watch it pull up again.

thanks, I will try that.
how long should the actuator to turbo hose be? is there a specific hose needed? the PO wasn't too particular about which hoses to use.

You mean the small hose from the vacuum solenoid to the turbo actuator?
Just long enough. There is no specific length.

thanks, I will need to snip that, mine is about 3 feet too long.

Keep in mind, the MAP sensor has its range or limits for reading boost. To much boost beyond it's max reading limit will produce an overboost and throw it into limp mode!
Ask me how I know!!!

The stop screw is for wide open vanes only. Shouldnt have anything to do with underboost codes. Most likely the actuator rod-to-turbo needs adjusted shorter to put more angle on the vanes. This will create more boost.

Before you start messing with attempting to adjust a turbo without the proper equipment 1) is the Garrett you bought off eBay the same Garrett used on the CRD; 2) if so was it off a running CRD; 3) if so was the CRD it came from running ok. If all answers are YES why are you assuming the underboost is due to the turbo as opposed to another cause (ex. clogged air filter) although it could be sticky turbo vanes which adjusting won't fix.

First, I'm not trying to adjust the turbo. I'm trying to troubleshoot it. I misspoke when I said actuator setup. What I meant was the vacuum line from the solenoid to the turbo.
I'm trying to see if the downpipe is connected right,
Is the solenoid working and connected right ,etc.
Users did tell me some good tests to try though.

I found a possible cause for my low boost code. My driver side cac hose is not ripped but seems leaky and i doubt it holds pressure. I install weeks kit and install samco on driver side. The boost feels a lot stronger. I haven't checked the codes yet. In the meantime I've developed code p0101.

Did you forget to plug your MAF sensor back in?

I've pulled that one a time or 2

I still have a boost code 0299 . How do I check if my downpipe turbo connection is air tight?

I took jeep to shop for other reasons and they replaced my maf sensor at great expense. no longer have the p0101 code though .
