You can do a decent set of new tires for much less than $1000. You can get a good set for $600 balance & installed.

Possibly.
That would depend on one's own definitions of premium, good, decent, and acceptable.

BFG Long Trail T/A 225/75/16 bought, mounted, and balanced. Lifetime roadhazard and free rotation warranty, prorated based on mileage of the tire but usually good for 90%+ of the original value.

Costco. $515 out the door.

No Wallys around here, but that's what I went with myself, M&B by Les Schwab, along with a $70 rebate for the set.
Acceptable.
I'm just curious if anyone had tried these with a work truck or whatever.

That would depend on one's own definitions of premium, good, decent, and acceptable.

You can get a set of premium tires for a KJ for $500-$600 for a set of 4 mounted/balanced and road hazard.

Now you really should be buying a set of 5,which would add $100-$150 to that total.

If you think you need to spend a $1000+ for a set of premium tires for a KJ(stock to 245/75R16's) can you please share what your smoking with the rest of us?

I paid $1000 for five 35" MT/R K's for my KJ,if your paying the same price for stock(ish) sized tires and only 4 you got ripped off badly.

Yeah, you are not going to get a set of 5 duratracs for much less than $800. Even the stock sized ones are that much. If you think they worth it or not, thats a different story, but having the severe snow service rating was for me.

And forget T/A KO2's, those are $250 a piece for 265/70R16's on TireRack.

I have an 05 sport that I'm likely going to sell. I bought it in '09 with intentions of eco tune, etc. but with birth of children and moves, I never got to a place where I was ready to make the mods that I wanted for this rig, especially because it's been driven <9k/yr since I've owned it. I have replaced timing belt and done all essential maintenance. Body is in great condition, but admittedly, interior has seen some wear from kids and pets (nothing major, just wear). It's been a great rig and I really love it, but our family has outgrown it. I'm also in the PNW.

My dad just put Cooper Discoverer on his KJ. Also on the one I got from him but neither have many miles yet.

My brother has some on his '97 Land Cruiser that he really likes and he's had them for several years.

I’ve had two CRDs since 2006 and have been through about every repair mentioned and have most mods, have been pretty much trouble free since top end job and TB at 170k.
Runs great, still looks pretty new, seats have new factory leather, Apple CarPlay, radar, cameras, etc, point being someone would have get close to $10 grand for me to give it up!
What about you guys that have rigs like mine or better.. how much?
