I'm the traveling mechanic that only works on CRDs - and I do it in your driveway (or wherever the CRD happens to be). Houston isn't that far away.

P0674 is a glow plug problem.
p0101 is the mass air flow (MAF) sensor. Which is not a problem. I have that code all the time and it doesn't create any performance issues.

If you are able to pull codes and those are THE ONLY codes you are getting, its not a problem with the ECM.

I'd start checking for air-in-fuel.
Then consider replacing the crank sensor.

Trying to find a performance diesel shop to call so I can get it towed over there. Would rather take a few days to do this right than throw tons of cash at something that's not going to fix the issue.

Be real careful of whom you let work on your Jeep CRD, they are very unique vehicles and require an honest mechanic who is well versed and experienced on these vehicles who is not out to scam you! Be very careful...

I'm trying to be, but honestly i'm close to completely breaking down over this. And there's no one local that seems to know jack doo doo about this type of vehicle.

I am sure geordi will pm or otherwise contact you, but about month ago he lived in Florida but his trips could lead anywhere.

Trying to bleed the filter head to get air out of system and checking for fuel flow coming through filter or just replacing filter could be done by anyone in 10 minutes or so and certainly a mechanic.

Perhaps have the place it is at now do this and if that is ok replace the crank position sensor.

This probably would cost less than another tow especially if just bleeding air fixes it . If air in fuel learn how to bleed yourself or put on lift pump of which the easiest, quickest way takes less than hour and about $50 in parts but not necessarily the best lift pump but it works.

The forum member needing help, who has been referred to as "Un witting" has been a member for over five years.

I suspect they are far more witting than they've been given credit for.

In any case, they need help, and probably aren't interested in having their help request thread hijacked by someone else's personal grievances.

It sounds as if they've had a shop doing periodic maintenance for quite some time, but now when the Jeep needs something beyond that, they are in over their heads, and tossing parts at it as their computer aided diagnostic program suggests, rather than testing things to determine the actual problem. This is evidenced by their wanting to replace PCM (Gas) rather than ECM (diesel).

Try googling diesel tuner shops in Houston area. Get the numbers of the ones with the most ratings and over 3 star average.

Call around and ask now many Jeep diesels they work on.

If they say "Jeep makes diesels?" You probably should scratch them off.
If they say "Tons! we work on them all the time!" They're probably lying and should be avoided as well.
If they say "we get one in once in a while" or something like that, that's more of what I would look for.

If you still come up empty, you might check your personal messages, (if you haven't already) and make some inquiries.

Thank you so much for the kind words! I wrote down everyone's suggestions and began calling around.

There have been 3 major life events in the last two months, that combined with this issue, it really was just a punch in the gut. I was very much overwhelmed. After writting down everything I just haven't been back on at all.

After speaking to a few places, I found a shop who ran tests for all the potential problems, and they came back with the ECM being the issue. They ordered a new one, found someone who could correctly program it, and it started right back up no problems at all. Just got it back this afternoon!
