Oil get to the rods through the crankshaft. By way of the main bearing supply.

Correct, the crankshaft has oil passages drilled internally from the main bearing journal to the connecting rod journal that supply the oil from the main bearings over to the rod bearings!
Most main bearings have a groove in them to help facilitate the oil supply to the rod bearings.
Rods are the LAST thing in the lube chain to get oil pressure, and the first to spin or wipe a bearing when oil pressure gets to low in an engine for any reason...

That is why the diagram does not show oil passages to the connecting rods!!!!!

Isn't it the wrist pins that's the last thing to get oil pressure? They kinda assist the piston cooling jets as well don't they? With the oil coming out the top of the rod? I've never had one of these down that far, but that's a pretty common scenario at least in ancient diesels.

There is no oil passage through the rod to the wrist pin (solid). It simply is lubricated by splash oil and the cooling oil being sprayed by the oil jets on the underside of the piston....

Ok. However it's configured it seems to work ok on mine.
1700rpm to 4200rpm, and no problems.

Hi everyone...Well, it's together and I have oil pressure. I turned the engine upside down and pulled the pan, Then I extracted the relief valve it was nasty but didn't seem to be stuck open. So then I filled the relief valve cavity with oil and turned the engine back up, put oil in it, cranked it about 15 sec and got oil to the turbo input. So evidently the oil pump needed to be primed. Go figure???. But...thanks a million for all your inputs Happy camper Jim
