Hello, long time reader, first post.
I have 06 CDR up in Canada and have done all the NOB stuff and timing belt, GDE tune.
I am looking to replace my oil pan gasket with out lifitng the engine (much) or dropping the front drive train
Does any one have any tricks or advice or should I just follow the service manual and deal with it? :JEEPIN:
Once I get the 95 yj 2.5 back together after her 22yr face lift.
Thanks

I think based on what others have posted, you either got to pull the engine or drop the front end to R&R the engine oil pan on a Jeep CRD.
Just curious, why are wanting to replace it, is it leaking?

Curious as to why you would need to replace your oil pan gasket?

From my experience in removing and replacing the gasket on a 2.8L crd, i found that there was nothing wrong with the original, i replaced it only because the engine was out and I thought it would eliminate any possible future leaks. I didn't need to.

I still have the old gasket in a box and the rubber sealant around the perimeter of the gasket is good as new.

Hello,

Yes it is leaking, I have ignored it for two years- tired once to sneak it out to retap the stripped oil drain but it got hung up on the front end.

I have sense tapped and used threaded insert and fuji drain valve, I am the 5th owner of this CRD and I think the only one to do any maintenance or repair that did not involve electrical tape.

FSM sounds like the only way, I was hoping I could gain a cm or a few mm of clearance (yes the CRD isn in Canada) Nova Scotia to be exact so fighting with seized and rusty bolts has put me off as well as 95 YJ restoration.

I was under the CRD last night to fix the trasfercase shift linkage and seen the self service oil under coat my Lib is preforming.

More likely the main seal. I've never seen the oil pan gasket leak, although I have seen some loose bolts on the pan
