Well I have been using M1 0w-40 for mine with great success. I occasionally have Blackstone Labs do oil samples on my rigs and the last one I got said this:
"Thanks for the email. It's hard to go too far wrong following the manufacturer’s directions, so even if the Mobil 1 0W/40 you used wasn't specifically marked as a "diesel" oil, it still got the job done. The viscosity was correct for 0W/40, and the additive package here (especially phosphorus and zinc, from ZDDP) is robust enough that we probably wouldn't have guessed that it wasn't a diesel oil if you hadn't said anything. In any case, wear metals look good (averages are based on ~6,700 miles of oil use), and no contaminants were found. Try 8,000-9,000 miles next."
